Have you ever feel sore around the waist and knees when working? If so, maybe the problem was triggered by an incorrect sitting position. In fact, your posture strongly influenced by body position, such as standing, sleeping, or sitting.

Have you estimated how much time you spend in a day on the office chair when doing the task? When typing on a computer, designing, as well as reading the report, we often do not realize the time has gone so long.

A research by the British Chiropractic Association estimates about 32 percent of the total UK population spends more than 10 hours per day sitting on their office chair. Half of the population did not leave their office desk even during lunch. Two-thirds of them spend more time on their seat when they come home after work.

If an incorrect sitting position continues to be, it will affect your posture. Your health will gradually declined too, especially those associated with the function of bones and joints. Your performance becomes not optimal.

How do we solve this problem? Try to follow these steps to help you find comfort - and maintain health - when sitting on your office chair for a long time:

1. Sit upright, let your shoulders and back straight. Feel whether the position of the buttocks touching the back seat? If so, then the position of your spine curvature is normal. To ensure this, lift your body and make the arch back as far as possible within a few seconds, then loosen the position it reaches approximately 10 degrees. That's your best position.

If you are not yet strong enough to sit normally like that, start by wearing a back support (i.e a small pillow) to support your spine.

2. Do not ignore the position of the feet and knees. Bend you knees symmetrically each other with a position higher than the hips. Then, put both feet in parallel position with the floor.

3. If you want to take stuff that is behind or beside you, do not twist your back. Rotate the entire body to reach it.

4. Every now and then make your body in a state of relaxation. Eyes off the computer monitor for three to five minutes every half-hour. This can help to relax the muscles and nerves so it's ready to work again, in addition to avoiding your eyes from excessive screen radiation.

5. Drink plenty of water. Even if you work in air-conditioned room, you can unwittingly lack of body fluids. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day.

Hi: This is a very important topic for me, since my job consists of too much sitting. I have read all the articles on getting the proper alignment, etc. I get up and take breaks and stretch as well.

At home, I bought a very expensive chair for sitting, the right foot stool and a 27" HD screen for my eyes.

This is so important. I will copy it for myself and print it out.

Thanks

Joyce

I recently started feeling sore after sitting a while, thinking, 'I didn't exercise yesterday ... why am I sore?' but I never realized that sitting the wrong way could have something to do with it! I am eager to try all of these tips and feel hopeful they'll help me out. Great hub.
