How to Keep Your Car Ignition System is Always in Good Condition

Ignition system and its components sometimes overlooked by car users, while this component is closely linked to the performance of combustion engines. Seemingly only few car owner actually realize that if ignition system conditions are unfavorable and problematic, mechanical power can be decreased significantly.

Here are some important steps that can be done so that the ignition components remain in good condition.

1. Regularly check the condition of the cable and sockets

Dirty or loose sockets will interfere with the performance of the ignition system. Especially for the indirect ignition system that involves a lot of cables connected to the socket, ranging from spark plug wires, distributor cables, and others.

In addition, you should check if the cable layer exfoliate or torn, as this could potentially result in short-circuit.

2. Check the coil connections

If the engine feels lame or sparks arise, try to check the coil connections. Perhaps this section loose. In a direct ignition system, connections between the coil and spark plugs may be dirty or loose. Therefore, you should clean up and tighten back for electricity flows smoothly again.

3. Avoid oil seepage

Sometimes the oil can flow and go to the sidelines of the cylinder head because of gasket leak. If the seepage of oil soaked spark plugs, short circuit can occur. Therefore, always check and try to keep the ignition component not be exposed to oil seepage.

4. Beware of puddles

Sometimes cars have to pass through puddles of water, especially during heavy rains or flood. The high water can make the most car engine parts submerged. Be careful, because this condition can lead to some water seeps into the engine room and wet the ignition components.

To avoid the possibility of a bad effect on your car engine, avoid passing through the puddle of water which height is half the diameter of the wheel. If forced to pass, run your car with a low speed.
