Building Up Online Reputation with Professional Hosted-Blog

Combined with social media services like Facebook and Twitter, a professional blog that represents yourself and your business on the internet is an essential part of the process of building up your online reputation.

Some aspects that must be considered when you decided to set up a professional hosted-blog blog including quality contents, best blog platform, and to choose a reliable blog hosting service.

A question then arises: why not simply use free blog hosting services that widely available on the internet? Well, the answer is simple: It’s not about quality of the service that make an issue. It’s about online reputation. If you want to create a blog that officially represents your profile or your business, then invest a little money on a paid hosting service will make you look far more professional. People will more trust on the reputation of a person or a business who manage an official site with professional-look custom URL like www.YourBlog.com, than to the other who own an vague free subdomain address like YourBlog.Freeblogservice.com.

Of course you can always use a free service whenever you want. Some free blog services now give you sophisticated blogging tools that aren’t less than a professional paid hosting service offered. But a free blog would be more appropriately used only when you want to publish something that is not associated with your professional image, for example to publish a blog post about family weekend vacation, or a story about bachelor party scene at your friend's house ..

Another weakness of free blog service is the problem of service liability and account ownership vulnerability. A free blogging service TOS (Terms of Service) is generally more stringent than paid services TOS. Free blog user will always feel wary of the TOS, because even unintended violations of the TOS may result in account suspension, or even complete deletion.

However, the problem that is often feared when choosing a paid hosting service is its complexity. That indeed happened in the past. Now there is almost no difference whether you use free service or paid service, because the ease of the registration and set up process is done the same.

Most free blogging sites now let you point to your own domain, provided of course that you have registered one. This would probably be the cheapest way to go.

You will, of course, lose a ton of functionality with Wordpress. Custom themes and plugins are a must!

I agree with you about redirecting a free blog to a custom domain. It is certainly the cheapest way because we only needs to spend money to buy a custom domain.

I think a free blogging service is good stuff for beginners or users who do not want to be bothered by something technical. But once they mastered how to customize their blogs (and the needs will grow the longer they manage their blogs), they'll have to move to a new platform that is more flexible and can be developed as needed.
