Canon IXUS 200 IS - Canon's First Touchscreen Camera

The Canon IXUS 200 IS compact digital camera combines 24mm ultra wide-angle 5.0x zoom lens with a 3.0 inch PureColor II Touch display and 12.1 megapixels image sensor. An impressive wide 3.0 inch PureColor II Touch display - one increment up from the predecessor 110 IS with only 2.8 inches display - works together with button control giving users fingertip control over a variety of camera functions, i.e. Touch AF function which enables users to select objects or faces on the touch screen - which the camera tracks and automatically keeps in focus.

Many mobile phones touchscreen cues also implemented in Canon IXUS 200 IS touchscreen, like tapping the screen to zoom in, select a particular focus point and AF tracking ensures that the selected point is kept in continuous focus even if the subject moves, tagging images as favourites, rotating, erasing, swipe the screen to scroll through photos, browsing for images with simply drag your finger across the screen, and many other touch actions.

The camera will adjust the speed of review with the speed of the gesture on-screen and supported with high visibility on-screen icons allow for quick and easy selection of shooting and flash modes, while a vertical orientation shutter release function means users can shoot by simply touching the screen.

A 12.1-megapixel image sensor and the Digic 4 processor in the IXUS 200 IS deliver fast, intelligent image processor, natural color reproduction and superb image quality. IXUS 200 IS can do widescreen high definition video recording (HD movie mode) at 720p resolution and features a myriad of scene modes to choose from. Your recorded HD videos can be easily shared by connecting the digital camera to a compatible HD display via the camera’s HDMI mini port.

Canon IXUS 200IS also features Smart auto mode with Scene Detection Technology, which is enhanced by the addition of Servo AE/AF, which tracks movement in the frame, adjusting focus and exposure to achieve the perfect shot. The feature automatically detecting faces, motion, distance, colour, and brightness in the frame the camera selects from one of 22 scene variables to optimise settings and make it easy for anyone to take a great pictures. 

The Canon IXUS 200 IS stylish metal body available in a choice of four colours: blue, gold, purple or silver. Besides the camera, also included in the box is a battery charger, wrist strap, power cord, mini USB and AV cables, and software in a CD.
